It can be used to extract mercaptan from natural gas or carbon dioxide in liquefied gas.

Natural gas can be described as a mix of hydrocarbons with CO2,H2S or other non-hydrocarbon gasses. The presence of CO2,H2S, other acidic gasses, and CO2 will increase the natural gas' calorific values. Additionally, LNG raw material CNG (compressed naturally gas) should be removed prior to liquefaction. This will prevent the formation of crystals in cryogenic processes that clog pipelines. It also helps avoid corrosive gases corrosion. Dry ice can be formed by carbon dioxide during liquefaction and cause pipe blockage. CNG with high amounts of CO2 needs to be removed before LNG can be made.
