As an anionic surface active agent, sodium heavy alkylbenzenesulfonate reduces the interfacial oil-water tension and increases the rate of tertiary petroleum recovery. This surfactant is used for oilfield flooding. The degreasing, decontamination and detergent properties of sodium heavy alkylbenzenesulfonate make it a useful degreasing or decontamination agent. The emulsifying agent sodium heavy alkylbenzenesulfonate is also highly efficient. Combining this product with other additives will produce emulsified cutting oils and other emulsified lubricants. Useful in printing and dyeing as well, rubber, building materials, textiles, rubber and textiles. Also used to make anti-rust oils, emulsified oils and co-solvents.
